libarchive-tools software package provides FreeBSD implementations of 'tar' and 'cpio' and other archive tools, you can install in your Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libarchive-tools
libarchive-tools is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libarchive-tools package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libarchive-tools *
You will get with libarchive-tools package name, version, architecture and description in a table
